Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit' (WAVES) in Mumbai today, Thursday. He encouraged over a thousand creators who gathered at the summit. Waves 2025 is a four-day event where experts from the media and entertainment sector have come together on this occasion. The tagline of 'WAVES 2025' is 'Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries'. Over 90 countries are participating in it. In which over 10 thousand delegates, 1 thousand producers, over 300 companies and over 350 startups are participating.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "'Waves is a global platform that belongs to every artist, every creator like you. Where every artist, every youth will be connected to the creative world with a new idea. Today is May 1. On this day, 112 years ago, on May 3, 1993, the first film Raja Harishchandra was released in India. Its producer was Dadasaheb Phalke and yesterday was his birthday. In the last century, Indian cinema has succeeded in taking India to every corner of the world."
Prime Minister Modi further said, "Today, on this platform in Waves, we have commemorated many stalwarts of Indian cinema through postage stamps. Over the years, I have met people from the gaming world, the music world, film makers and sometimes even the brightest faces on screen. In these discussions, issues of India's creativity, innovative potential and global cooperation were often raised. From the Red Fort, I have spoken about 'Sabka Prayas'. My belief today is stronger that the efforts of all of you will take Waves to new heights in the coming days."
