'What Happened To Ceasefire': Omar Abdullah As Explosions Heard Across Srinagar

Just three hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire to de-escalate growing military tensions, Pakistan has reportedly violated the agreement, triggering fresh concerns across northern India.

According to defense sources and local reports, Pakistan carried out drone attacks in multiple areas of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the Indian Air Defence Forces to intercept the threat. A blackout was imposed across several regions as a precautionary measure, including Udhampur, Srinagar, Jammu, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Moga, and other border districts.

Eyewitnesses in Srinagar reported seeing “red lines” — believed to be air defense laser systems — and hearing loud explosions during the interception of an enemy drone.

Amidst the renewed tension, Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah voiced concern on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“What happened to the ceasefire?”He confirmed that loud explosions were heard in Srinagar shortly after the ceasefire was supposed to take effect.

The fragile truce had followed a three-day escalation that began after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks, which India successfully repelled. The ceasefire was seen as a breakthrough when Pakistan’s Foreign Minister extended the offer, which India accepted in the interest of regional stability.

However, the latest drone attacks have raised serious doubts about Pakistan’s commitment to peace. Defense officials have yet to issue a formal statement, but heightened military alert continues across the border regions.

The situation remains tense, with security forces on high alert and civilian areas under blackout to prevent potential casualties or damage.
