Yellow Alert Issued for Marathwada for Next 3 Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for several districts in Marathwada, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next three days. The alert covers 22 districts across Maharashtra, including Beed, Latur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

According to the IMD, wind speeds are expected to reach 50 to 60 km/h, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall, thunder, and lightning. In light of this, citizens have been urged to avoid open spaces, stay indoors, and refrain from unnecessary travel. Fishermen, in particular, have been advised not to venture into the sea as conditions are expected to remain rough.

Highest Rainfall in the State Expected in Marathwada

The IMD has predicted that Marathwada is likely to receive 112% of its average rainfall in June, the highest in the state. This presents both opportunities and risks — while it bodes well for agriculture, it also raises the possibility of localized flooding.

Farmers have been urged to plan their sowing schedules carefully and take weather-based agricultural decisions. Officials from the Agriculture Department and Meteorological Department have advised farmers to stay updated with daily forecasts to avoid potential crop damage.

District-Wise Forecast

Rainfall and cloudy conditions are expected in the following districts:

  • Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

  • Beed

  • Latur

  • Dharashiv

  • Nanded

  • Parbhani

  • Hingoli

  • Jalna

In some areas, thunderstorms may begin in the morning, while other districts may experience cloudy skies and rain in the afternoon or evening. The maximum daytime temperature is expected to range between 32°C and 35°C.

Administrative Preparedness and Public Advisory

The administration has advised all citizens to remain alert and strictly follow safety guidelines. Authorities are also monitoring water levels and ensuring emergency services are on standby. If heavy rainfall persists, temporary shelters and relief measures will be activated in vulnerable areas.

As the monsoon season begins with intensity, the IMD’s alert serves as an early warning to safeguard both life and property. Public cooperation and preparedness will be crucial in minimizing potential disruptions.
