Kolhapur : Kolhapur's Jyotiba Yatra begins
Echoing chants of "Changbhala Jyotibacha!" filled the air as the grand Chaitra Yatra of Shri Jyotiba, the revered Deccan King, commenced with fervent devotion and enthusiasm. For the past two days, lakhs of devotees have been arriving at Jyotiba Hill, turning the sacred mountain into a vibrant spiritual hub.
The annual pilgrimage, celebrated in honor of Lord Jyotiba, has drawn faithful followers from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The hilltops of Kolhapur are abuzz with activity, as pilgrims gather to seek blessings from their beloved deity during this auspicious occasion.
The atmosphere is electrifying—the skies are filled with clouds of pink and purple gulal (powder), traditional ‘Sasan Kathi’ processions march with grandeur, and the air reverberates with the powerful chants of devotion. Even before the official start of the yatra, the hills were already brimming with devotees, draped in traditional attire and carrying their spiritual fervor.
Pilgrims arrived on foot, in bullock carts, and by private vehicles, demonstrating their unwavering faith and commitment. Many undertake this journey as an act of penance or fulfillment of vows made to Lord Jyotiba.
The Chaitra Yatra is one of the most significant religious events in the region, not only for its scale but for the deep emotional and cultural connection it holds for millions. Local authorities have implemented special measures to ensure safety, crowd management, and provide essential services for the massive gathering.
As the yatra unfolds, Jyotiba Hill transforms into a spectacle of devotion, tradition, and unity, marking yet another year of spiritual celebration in the heart of Maharashtra.
