Today is the Mahaparinirvan Day of the architect of the Constitution, the great Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Every year, on the day of Mahaparinirvan, there is a strong demand to rename Dadar Metro Station as Chaityabhoomi. Yesterday, Bhim Army activists held peaceful demonstrations for this renaming, and today this demand has gained momentum again. Senior economist Narendra Jadhav has demanded that Dadar Metro Station be named Chaityabhoomi. The ruling party and the opposition have given positive responses to this demand.
Narendra Jadhav paid homage to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Chaityabhoomi this morning. He then reiterated the demand to name the Dadar metro station as Chaityabhoomi while speaking to the media. An immense crowd has gathered at Chaityabhoomi today, with an estimated 15 to 20 lakh people expected to attend. With book exhibitions held at various places, it is estimated that books worth four crore rupees will be sold. Jadhav noted that followers are paying homage to Babasaheb in a disciplined and devoted manner.
Excellent planning has been done by the municipality for the facilities at Chaityabhoomi, and a booklet on Babasaheb has been published. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also been requested by Jadhav to immediately appoint a coordination committee to expedite the work of the Indu Mill memorial. Additionally, they strongly demanded on behalf of the Ambedkarite community that the Dadar Metro Station be named Chaityabhoomi.
Meanwhile, Supriya Sule, MP of the Sharad Pawar group, welcomed Jadhav's demand and said that she too has been demanding the renaming of Dadar station for many years. BJP leader Chitra Wagh expressed hope that the Chief Minister will consider Jadhav's demand positively. She also stated that it is because of Babasaheb that we exist.
