Team India recorded a commendable 9-wicket victory against South Africa in the third and final ODI played on Saturday, December 6. India chased the target of 271 runs with the loss of 1 wicket, winning the series 2-1. The Indian team, led by KL Rahul, defeated South Africa. However, in the second match held in Raipur on December 3, India had to face a 4-wicket defeat despite scoring 358 runs. At that time, the Indian team made a big mistake, due to which the ICC has now taken action against Team India.
In the match in Raipur, Team India faced difficulty in completing 50 overs within the stipulated time. According to the rules, since 50 overs were not bowled in time, the ICC has taken punitive action against Team India for the slow over rate. The ICC provided this information via the Twitter X platform. Match referee Richie Richardson has fined Team India in this matter. As India failed to bowl 2 overs within the stipulated time, the players and support staff of the team have been found guilty. This action has been taken under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
According to ICC rules, a 5% fine is imposed on the fee for one over short, but since Team India bowled 2 overs short, a 10% fee was imposed as a fine. Captain KL Rahul has accepted these charges, and no hearing was required as the fine was accepted.
Team India has failed to maintain the over rate in the second consecutive match of the series. Earlier, in the first ODI held in Ranchi, Team India also showed difficulty in completing the overs on time. Therefore, Indian fans have a big appeal to the team to avoid these mistakes in the upcoming T20 series.
